2017 Christmas has come and gone.
In spite of the fuel scarcity, we were still able to catch
some fun with family, friends and loved ones, give gifts and received in
return. That's the spirit of the season.
Congratulations you made it to the New Year.
Remember, it didn't just happen; neither was it by your
effort nor by your qualities but Grace and Mercy of the ALMIGHTY chose you to
be among the living.
Please permit me to share this interesting story with you.
One day a Professor entered the classroom and asked her
students to prepare for a surprise test.
They waited anxiously at their desks for the test to begin.
The Professor walked around the class and handed the
question papers with the text facing downwards.
Once she handed them all out, she asked her students to turn
the page and begin.
To everyone's surprise, there were no questions! Just a
black dot in the center of the page.
The Professor said to everyone's confusion “I want you to
write what you see there".
The worried students began to do what they'd been told to
do.
At the end of the class, the Professor took all the answers
and read them aloud in front of the students.
All of them, with no exceptions described the black dot,
trying to explain the position in the middle of the sheet.
After all had been read, the classroom was silent, the
Professor began to explain. “I am not going to grade you on this test; I just
wanted to give you something to think about. No one wrote about the white part of
the paper. Everyone focused on the black dot and the same happens in our lives.
We have a white paper- many wonderful things
we have or happen around us but
we take for granted and focus our attention and energy on small, dot-like
failures and disappointments; health issues, money we need, the luxuries we
don't have, relationship's complications, problems with family members,
disappointments with friends, academic challenge, peer pressure and so on...
There is something good, something worth celebrating in our
lives but we ignore, relegate and push them aside while we focus our attention,
energy and even sacrifice our joy on the little black spots in our lives. If
only we could take our attention away from those things that dampen our
spirits, bruise our hearts and keep our heads bowed.
The year 2018 is loaded with prospects and opportunities, to
make the best of it is to focus more on the white plain of our lives and make
the best of it while making conscious efforts to correct, erase or adopt ways
of dealing with the black spots.
Have a 2018 with extraordinary turn around.
